A big welcome to bestseller Tina Donohue!
To mark publication of her new title Ellora’s Cave title, Seven Sensuous Days, I’m hosting an extract and a book release contest – details below.

Seven Sensual Days by Tina DonohueAt an erotic auction, she’s his to bid on…to take…to command.

The night’s sultry, filled with carnal promise as Tessa participates in an agency event to raise money for charity. She’s chained and bared—as women were once displayed for a sultan’s harem—her sweet looks and full figure offered to the wealthy and powerful men.

Among them is Logan. To him, Tessa is so different from his late wife, the seemingly perfect female who cruelly stole his hope and future. Wanting only to forget and have a good time, he wins Tessa, demanding she be his in every way possible, engaging in all wanton acts, though not only for an evening…for seven sensuous days at his secluded Virginia estate.

A provocative proposal with such a dangerously virile man.

A week that changes everything, with Tessa’s exquisite vulnerability and Logan’s suddenly unquenchable desire more than either bargained for.

Music swelled, drums drowning out what had sounded like flutes and a female voice trilling something. Blood pounded in Tessa’s ears, muting it all. With her face lowered, all she could see was the purplish sheen of her cape. She sensed the panels in front of her parting, the stage displayed. Beyond it were a series of steps descending to a stone walkway flanked with splashing fountains, which eventually led to the crowd…the one man who was supposed to win her for an evening.

A full day was reserved for goddesses like Felicity. With her participation in this event, Ronnie would probably have enough funds to build a community college for young women.

The microphone screeched with brief feedback. Tessa made a face. Ronnie said something Tessa didn’t quite catch.

She bit her bottom lip, and decided to hell with it. She was going to take Felicity’s advice and fantasize.

“He’s dark and dangerous,” Felicity had said.

His features would be masculine, strong, slightly rough, his face shadowed with his coming beard. No, wait. He’d have a mustache and a closely cropped goatee, that hair as dark as his eyebrows. His eyes would be black, piercing, his skin a deep bronze, his lips satiny, his mouth full and rich.

He’d move into her with a right given him by birth, as a ruler. As a male. Looking down at her, he’d smile, shameless lust transforming his features, making him seem even more dangerous. Sex would be on his terms. He’d take her in any manner he chose. Orally, vaginally, anally, his strength precluding escape, his stiffened cock demanding its due, all that she could—

Tessa’s cunt stopped aching with need as her hood fell away. Or rather, Brian had pulled it back. Instinctively, she lifted her head, her attention darting everywhere, much as she suspected a real captive would have behaved, not knowing what to expect. A part of her mind recorded water spraying from the fountains, the again-subdued music, rich and seductive. Ronnie’s voice. The muted conversations of the ladies with their so-called masters.

Those men who hadn’t yet made their selections were quiet. Tessa regarded each. Some were listening to Ronnie. Others glanced at Tessa’s cloak, no doubt wanting it off.

With a flourish, Brian complied and pulled the thing from her, then lifted her arms above her head, securing her shackled wrists to the column.

Tessa stiffened at being exposed in every way possible. There was no hiding her nudity or expression up here, not with the lights trained on her. They weren’t fully intrusive, just enough illumination to exhibit, making her the brightest spot among all the shadows and the torches’ flickering flames. The toasty breeze skimmed the faint moisture on her cunt and licked her nipples, puckering them even more so that the tips appeared that much longer. Areas Felicity’s makeup had accentuated.

Perspiration prickled Tessa’s neck. Her heart beat out of time, the pose she struck both daunting and oddly arousing. There was absolutely nothing to compare to this…being chained and displayed. A sensation of delicious helplessness. Intense vulnerability.

Especially as no one spoke up.

Oh no.

Embarrassment drove heat to Tessa’s throat and cheeks. The music played on and on. Each second crawled by while her mind raced. Would her part in the auction stop when the piece ended even though no one had offered a price? Would Ronnie call for an intermission then, or would she want to continue with the rest of the event as quickly as—

Someone called out a bid.

Tessa’s heart paused. She hadn’t hear the amount. It didn’t matter. One man, at least, craved her.

Who? She studied the audience. A guy, forty or so, smiled with kindness, rather than lust, no doubt sensing and seeing her uncertainty. She offered her own smile in return, liking his sympathetic manner, wondering if he was the one who’d bid on her.

No. He’d already turned to the server and was now pointing at his drink as though he wanted a new one more than anything else.

So who had made the offer?

Another client kept looking from her to Ronnie. Others took a moment to study the program, see who was coming up next.

That would be Felicity. For her, the men would shout over each other, demanding to be heard, letting the money flow freely.

Another bid rang out.

Completely surprised, Tessa continued to regard the crowd, her attention drawn finally, almost irresistibly, to Logan Kincaid.

She forgot to breathe.

Someone had relit the torch nearest his table. Its bobbing light bathed him in a warm golden glow.

Tessa’s body softened.

Young—thirties or so, just as she’d thought—he wore his dark brown hair longish on the top and sides, combed away from his face. His features were rugged, deliciously masculine, especially his shadow of beard. Tessa had no doubt those short bristles would be rough to the touch, a wonderful contradiction to the silkiness of his lips, his generous mouth. A man’s mouth.

Warmth sluiced through her again, the heat soothing this time. Arousing.

He wore a beige blazer that went well with his tan complexion, his white shirt opened at the collar. Decidedly relaxed. The same as his demeanor. He lowered his drink…whiskey or bourbon…from here it was impossible for her to tell. He glanced at his watch, then surveyed the crowd, not her.

Ronnie took another bid.

With a neutral expression, Logan regarded the man who’d made it.

Tessa didn’t bother to look. She focused on Logan.

Another bid followed the last. As if to determine why, Logan finally glanced at the stage.

Tessa’s pulse pounded. Her legs felt watery.

His attention swept upward from the ridiculous shoes she wore to her naked calves and thighs. He studied her exposed cunt and glittering body jewelry for a moment, then continued to her bared breasts, viewing them briefly before he at last reached her eyes.

There, he stopped, as though he hadn’t meant to. There, he lingered.

Half by Elise VanCiseYour erotic novel, Half, has an intriguing premise: “Guarding CEO Alex Blazen during a charity gala was an easy job for Valeska Gorstef…until all hell breaks loose…literally. Forced to face her own darkness, Valeska may lose her only chance to live a human life. Two sides of her soul will be at war. Which HALF will win?” Can you tell us more about Valeska’s darkness?
Valeska is born of two worlds human and vampire. Throughout the story she goes through a constant inner battle of the two. Long ago she tried to separate her self from her ‘dark side’ and live as humanly as she can. Now she has to face and accept that dark half or she’s going to lose those in both worlds she cares for.

Is it a standalone novel, or will we see more from Valeska and Alex?
There is definitely more coming, these characters still have a long journey to travel before a torn soul can be healed, if it can at all.

Why erotica? Why an erotic thriller?
Why not? : ) I love thrillers, most of my favorite books and movies are thrillers, the sensual elements are just icing on the cake. I think those scenes give a reader kind of a deeper look into the emotions and drive of the characters not just for each other but the heart of the character him/herself.

What is it about a story that takes you past that tipping point – from when an idea is merely interesting to when it becomes something that simply has to be written?
I think when it becomes more than just an idea. Some stories just take over and say Write Me!  Like the book I’m presently working on Outlaw Born. The idea popped into my head, next thing I knew I was researching history of railroads, rail conflicts and the Civil War if it coincided with the timeline I was thinking of for the plot. Everything just started rolling into a full character and plot full steam ahead. Yeah, pun intended 🙂

What makes you really care about a character, when you’re writing or reading?
I find the characters I most adore are the ones who I can most relate to. There’s just something about their personality or life that just rings a bell.

Tingle by Elise VanCiseHow did you get into writing erotica?
I really just write what the muse leads me to write. If the story needs heat then logs get tossed on the fire. lol

Tell us about your experiences as an erotica author. What have the big challenges and successes been?
I’ve had some wonderful responses from readers about the book and the way it’s written.  I think the biggest challenge is writing the intimacy with the right balance of sensuality and emotion.

Do the people around you know what you write? How have they reacted, or how would they react?
I think most everyone knows what I write. My writing spans so many genres and types besides erotic/sensual stories. I think there is something there for every kind of reader to enjoy.

What’s your perfect writing day?
Comfortable spot, the words flowing easily onto the page, with no interruptions but to refill the chocolate.

And your perfect day off?
A day at a museum with my son. We love to explore museums and historic places. Or a stack of my favorite dvd’s and a comfortable spot to relax and watch all day.

What will we see from you next?
Right now I’m working on about 3 projects at once lol. The main one is a western Outlaw Born.

The war forced Ben Mason into long separations from family and set him on the battlefield against brothers. His luck left him more often than it came to him. He fought through it all to rid himself of the tarnished name given to him by his father and return home safe to his family.

What he finds forces him to realize his battle has only just begun. When the law fails to offer justice, Ben embraces the legacy he had fought so hard to escape. Blood is the only path when you’re Outlaw Born.

And finally, back to Half: if you were on an elevator with someone and had a few seconds to convince them to read your book, what would you tell them?
Half is a different twist on the typical vampire romantic thriller. Valeska, Alex and the other characters are strong vivid personalities that pop off the page. If you enjoy action, romance, thrills and frights then this is a tale for you.

Spotlight: KA Salidas (author interview and extract)

Posted 16 February 2014 By Polly J Adams

Dissension by KA SalidasYour new novel, Dissension (love that cover!), is a new adult paranormal dystopian romance, if that’s not weighing it down with too many labels! Tell us more…
Book one in the series is not technically a romance. Just Paranormal and Dystopian (adult, not YA) but there are some hints of possible romance. Either way, I love to mashup genres. I never like to be trapped into one tiny box. Not that genres are tiny, but I do like the freedom to branch out and touch onto whatever strikes my fancy. Now, when book 2 comes out, there will be a little more romantic elements added in. I wonder how many genres I can hit with this series. LoL!!

What’s the appeal of this kind of post-apocalyptic setting for a romance adventure story?
Actually, I think the two genres go quite nicely together. It’s well known that sharing tragedy breeds fondness for those involved. Romance can spark from the fight for survival.

If you lived in the world of Dissension, what kind of life would you lead? Would you be a survivor?
As a Human, I would be okay. I’d probably live under the Iron Gate rule. Might not be an Elite, but hopefully I’d live a good comfortable life, maybe even own a vampire of my own. Of course, I’d be nice to them, I would never treat them the way the other humans treat vampires. Poor things. They are so misunderstood.

Can you tell us anything about where this series is heading? Do you have it all worked out, or are you discovering the world and its characters as you write?
I have the first three books of this series mapped out. There is plenty of room for expansion after the fact, but for now, it’s just the three.

These three books chronicle Mira’s struggle for freedom and reveal the true path of her destiny as the one to bring about new peace between humans and supernatural kind.

What’s your perfect writing day? And your perfect day off? And how do you juggle the demands of writing with family life?
Oh I wish I could have a perfect writing day. I have a 9 year old, a 2 year old, and just had another baby. Writing time is whenever I can sneak in a few moments here or there. I’d love to escape somewhere and just spend the day entertaining the muse. Until then, I’ll steal whatever time I get.

Do you have a favorite, or favorites, among your earlier stories?
The Immortalis Series (6 books) is and probably will always be my baby. I cut my teeth on that series. I learned the ropes not only about writing, but self publishing too while working through these books. The characters within them are like family. Each of them has a special place in my heart. Many readers have asked if I will continue the series. I may. There is still plenty of story left there to tell. It all depends on my readers. I want them to be happy, so if they demand it, I’ll do it.

Dissension – Chronicles of the Uprising: Book 1

The great cataclysm wiped almost all life from the face of planet Earth, but tiny pockets of survivors crawled from the ashes, with only one thought: survival, at any cost.

But not all survivors were human.

In the dark, militant society that has risen in the aftermath, vampires, once thought to be mythical, have been assimilated and enslaved. Used for blood sport their lives are allowed to continue only for the entertainment of the masses. Reviled as savages, they are destined to serve out their immortal lives in the arena, as gladiators.

And there is no greater gladiator than Mira: undefeated, uncompromising…and seemingly unbreakable. When an escape attempt leads Mira into the path of Lucian Stavros, the city’s Regent, her destiny is changed forever.

Lucian, raised in a culture which both reviles and celebrates the savagery and inhumanity of vampires, finds Mira as intriguing as she is brash. An impulsive decision – to become Mira’s patron – changes more than just Lucian’s perception about vampire kind.  The course of his life is altered in ways he could never have predicted – a life that is suddenly as expendable as hers.

Can Mira prove to Lucian that all is not as it seems? Can Lucian escape centuries of lies, bloodshed, and propaganda to see the truth? Or will the supreme power of the human overlords destroy them both?

Dissension: an excerpt

The roar of the crowd, all twenty-five-thousand people in attendance, rose to a thundering crescendo when Mira delivered a bone-crunching blow to her opponent’s ribs. Standing only five feet tall, she might not have appeared a formidable warrior, but the thin, spiky-haired waif of a vampire could hold her weight and more when put to the test. Amplified by the superb acoustics, the sound of bones cracking echoed through the Superdome arena. The defeated, a red-headed male vampire staggered, punch-drunk, and then dropped to his knees. Dirt and sweat coated his face but could not mask the fear in his icy blue eyes. His was a look Mira had seen so many times before. Her opponent’s immortal life had finally come to an end, and he was ready to take the final deadly blow.

Above her, Mira knew the fifty-foot mega screen showed her hapless victim in brilliant resolution, ensuring that all who were attending, and those watching from the comfort of their homes, could see these last gruesome moments in crystal clear high-definition.

Mira gazed down at her opponent’s blood-soaked face. Though he was her enemy for the moment, she did not relish having to end him. No one should be forced into the arena and told to kill or be killed. It wasn’t right. But it was what was demanded of her, and given the choice between her life and someone else’s… well, there really was no choice. No matter the cost, Mira was a survivor.

She glanced up to the large private box overlooking the arena. A well-dressed man in deep-purple robes sat, enjoying what appeared to be a dinner of filet mignon and roast potatoes. Even here, in the dusty arena below, Mira’s enhanced senses picked up the tantalizing scent of very rare, bloody steak. She could hardly believe that a human could not only watch the murder about to take place, but also sit and eat the dead flesh of a once-living being while doing it. From the smell of it, the poor beast was practically still bleeding on his plate. Who was truly the more savage creature?

Over the crowd’s roar, an announcer introduced the well-dressed man, Lucian Stavros, Regent of the Iron Gate. Lucian gently and purposefully slowly set down his knife and fork. He took another moment to wipe his face clean and then smiled, acknowledging the roaring crowd.

Chants of “Death, death, death,” rang out from the throng as a single unified demand.

The Regent listened for a moment, making a show of putting his hands to his ears to hear screaming hoard’s request, and then held a hand out, with his thumb pointed to the side.

As if the next moment were the most important, the anticipating mass hushed. Eerie silence filled the arena as everyone watched for the Regent to make his decision.

From her vantage point below, Mira saw the steely look of determination cross the Regent’s face. If she didn’t know better, she might have thought he took this decision seriously; but then, he was human, and they never cared much if her kind lived or died. Lucian Stavros took a cursory glance down at Mira. Their eyes met. It was only a brief moment, but in that short time, Mira saw him waver.

Could it be true, she wondered, or was it just a trick of the light? No human actually cared about the lives of vampires. The moment faded, and the fleeting thought left.

Mira saw the Regent’s decision. He turned his thumb down. Death!

The crowd went wild.

The last hope for her defeated opponent had vanished; Mira had to finish him. “Sorry,” she whispered to the half-dead vampire on his knees before her. Though her fangs tingled at the prospect of tasting his final dying moments—her reward, if you could call it that, for living through another battle— she did not enjoy what she was about to do. Like her, he was a slave, forced into servitude to the humans as they saw fit. He had not asked for this, and neither had she. But, despite what either of them wanted, it was the will of the crowd, the humans, that had to be served.

Aiming to sever the carotid artery with her fangs, Mira dove at her opponent’s neck. His death would be quick. At least she could afford him that luxury.

Characters Interview

Welcome to Oliver and Tom, Oliver stars in The Flower Box and Tom in Candy Hearts

Oliver, tell us something about Alice, how would you describe her in a few words?
Alice is just great. She’s the love of my life so I’m biased in my opinion I guess you know. She’s brave, capable, and independent. She likes the park and water. She’s very pretty, slender, intelligent, kind, and generous, and she treats everyone and thing well. She’s great at her job and runs her own business. She’s sexy. (He grins.)

Tom, describe your loved one in a few words. (Tom’s asked us not to give away her name, when you read the story you’ll know why.)
Very sexy, giving, clever, thoughtful, a great lover, knows what she wants or needs to do and goes for it. She’s full of surprises, she loves me, and she works hard at her jobs. I couldn’t live without her now.

So guys tell the readers about how you met the leading ladies in your stories.
I met my love in a coffee shop. She was a waitress. On one occasion, she gave me a look that nearly melted the chair I was sitting on besides parts of me touching it. (laughs)
Oliver: I met her in person in a flower and candy shop. I’d seen her before but not close up.

Can you describe when you first knew you were in love? Oliver tell us about when you knew you loved Alice.
It might be a spoiler if I told all. I thought I’d lost her, that woke me up with a jolt. (smiles)

What about you Tom?
It was hard to let myself fall in love, I think I loved her very soon though and just pushed it away.

Is there anything you would have changed about the story, your name, job, story setting, anything?
I’ve never thought about that. I don’t mind my name and in the story I get to change jobs. I used to hate what I did so that was great. The setting goes with the job, and is a cool place, I think.
Oliver: I like my name. I love my job. It’s not what I set out to do when I went to college, but it’s great. The setting for the story wouldn’t be able to change, that’s where I work and where Alice works, and where we live, plus it’s a cool city. (smiles)

Will each of you choose an excerpt from the story that you enjoy?
Is there a rating level on your blog? Mine has to be a love scene.
Tom: Mine too. (laughs)

Just choose what you want, and thank you both for coming along today.
Thank you. It’s been fun.
Tom: I’ve enjoyed meeting you, so thank you.

Excerpt from The Flower Box

Alice took him down the narrow alley that led to the back of her shop. Halfway down there Oliver stopped. He guessed she was taking him home to bed, but the kisses they’d shared ignited a need in him that was surprising. He had to kiss her again right then.

Alice turned to him as he stopped walking. The small white walkway lights shone on her hair.

Oliver’s cock stirred as he pulled her close. He found her mouth and grazed her bottom lip with his as he closed his eyes. He pushed her back against the wall, then took her hands and held them down locking his fingers with hers. He slid his tongue against her lips until she opened her mouth. The feel of her hips against him made him sigh. Oliver kissed her as his cock hardened and strained against his jeans. He pressed the hard column against her stomach.

Her moan reached his ears as he kissed down her neck.

He wanted to suck her soft skin and feel her pussy around his fingers. He let go of her hands to lift her skirt.

She pressed her neck against his face as he sucked.

He pulled her skirt up around her waist and kissed up to her ear. “I want you,” he whispered into her ear and she gasped. Oliver pushed her pantyhose down around her thighs. He kissed her lips, and felt her part them to moan as he slid his hand between her legs. She was wet and his cock jerked. His breath came in short gasps as he pushed two fingers into her pussy. The feel of her inner muscles around his fingers sent a spike of sensation through his cock. He thought he’d come right then as his hips thrust in response to her opening her legs wider for his hand. He murmured against her mouth. “You feel so good. I can’t wait to get you home.”

Alice kissed him. “Let’s go. I’m desperate for you.”

Her words made his cock leak. He wondered if he could make it to her car. He took his fingers from her pussy and lingered with his fingertips against her clit.

She held his shoulders and kissed him hard.

Oliver took his fingers from her clit and rested his face against hers. “Sorry, Alice, does anyone else use this path?”

Her voice was low as she answered against his cheek. “Not usually.”

He hugged her. “That’s good.” He moved from her

She made a little sound as he pulled her pantyhose up.

He held her face and kissed her tenderly. “Let’s go.”

Candy Hearts by Elodie ParksExcerpt from Candy Hearts

She watched him closely.

Tom saw her gaze trace his mouth, then his body. The atmosphere between them charged as she broadcast attraction signals. He edged his hand along the tabletop so that he might touch hers when she reached for her water glass.

It happened as they stared at each other.

Tom’s cock hardened as the prickle of desire flew along his arm from her touch. He saw her eyes darken and she leaned into him. He took hold of her hand then, locking fingers with hers. He had to kiss her. He raised his other hand, slid it gently along her cheek, and brought her head to his.

The kiss was devastatingly sexy. His cock, rock hard now, pushed at his suit pants. Sky’s lips parted for his tongue. He kissed her, and the steady hum of the restaurant guests’ chatter receded. Surrounded by the scent of her silky hair and softness of her skin, Tom took his time. He held her head to his until he felt her try to move from the kiss, away from him. He let her end the kiss, but he tightened his grip on her hand. As he lifted his head he realized their food had arrived and the server waited by the table for them to end the kiss. He smiled and let go of her hand.

She smiled too leaning back so that the plate could be placed on the table in front of her.

As they ate little bites of their steaks, Tom again asked for her real name.

He swallowed. “I’d love to know your name. Seriously, after that kiss, I can’t keep calling you Sky.” He saw her hesitate, and then she answered.
